Exciting New Additions to the Freelance Writing for Profit Blog and Some Emotional Stuff, Too

I am super stoked right now. I'm tired, greasy and a bit zombie-fied, but I am soaring through the clouds on a natural high of excitement that I haven't felt since the day's of GI Joe, Micro Machines and Skeletor. I feel giddy, like a kid on Christmas.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if the handful of announcements I have for you all warrant this feeling. It's not evident why I am so uplifted especially considering how many years that have went by since I last experienced such unbridled joy. I'll tell you this much though, I am definitely going to enjoy it while it lasts. Maybe I can pass a little bit on to you, too. Perhaps in relating these feelings to you, I will be able to put my finger on the nature of this wonderful mood I am in.

Where Have You Been, My Freelance Friend?

As you may have noticed, I've been absent for a couple weeks. Part Four of a Day in the Life is way overdue, and I have neglected the forum more than is acceptable. While the reason behind this absence is extremely profitable for me, I try to update the blog as much as possible in order to keep all my freelance writers and content marketers in the know. Well, sad to say, I have failed in that endeavor so far this month. I will strive to do better in the hopes that I may still provide something of value to my faithful freelance family.

The main problem for me is a lack of time.

Last night, I didn't sleep. Hell, I had to stay up and work through the dark and lonely hours just so I could get these new additions to the FWP blog finished before the actual workday began.

Now, the sun is quickly climbing across the sky, I am still nowhere near completing the blog updates and my billable hours are taking a nosedive fast. As the hands on the clock fly by, I am becoming more and more certain that this day is destined to end with very little profit being made.

Ah, but Mikey, are thou not working on the FWP Blog? Surely that makest thou wealthy?

Actually, FWP doesn't generate any notable income, so the time I spend on it is purely pro bono. Hopefully you will get something out of it though. If at least one person finds a useful insight into the freelance writing business, then the last 12 hours will have been completely worth it to me.

And see, that is what has me tripping right now. Despite a total lack of profit so far today and running on zero sleep, my mood should be far more surly. But this sense of happiness is as strong as when it first started during the wee hours of the night.

It seems like nothing going to break my stride. Ain't nobody going to hold me down. Oh no. I've got to keep on moving...........

Anyways, my real fear is letting this feeling slip away. If I lose what has already been lost for so many years, will it ever come back again?

Don't Worry, Be Happy Now

Here's the thing that has me at a loss, though. Nothing personally gratifying happened last night or today. I didn't get a particularly awesome piece of news nor did I achieve any great feat. My daughter's at school and my wife is at work, so the only people that can make me happy are not around.

While I am sincerely passionate about helping my fellow freelance writers make money online, these blog announcements are so insignificant when compared to the joy in my heart. It seems out of place, unequal.

But you know, maybe that's the whole point. Maybe true happiness can only be gained through a selfless act driven by a passionate desire to help your fellow man regardless of who they are, what they look like, where they live or how they pray.

I guess if the amount of personal gain can be used as a guage of how selfish an act is, then I am a Saint right now. Saint Mikey Dee. Yea, that's me.

Saints, like priests, take a vow of poverty I think which is weird cause that's exactly what I did when I first started this site.

1. The FWP blog has earned a grand total of $19.76 from AdSense since its debut around 4 years ago. 
2. Amazon owes me $3 for just under a year of promotions. 
3. They owe for my services the incredible amount of $23. 
4. Payout isn't made until $100 is reached.
5. I should reach payout in about 12 more years.
6. Two words: Blog Baller!

A Little More Insight, a Little Less Unhappiness

So, as you can see, I don't make money from this blog at all. But that's never been my goal for FWP. Content management is where I earn the bulk of my freelance writing salary. This site has just been a way for me to give back to the amazing community of content marketing strategists and freelance writers that I have come to know and genuinely care about.

I guess with that in mind, the act of helping a freelance writer to succeed in this business could easily be the cause of this unprecedented level of happiness.

I swear my soul does feel lighter, like a large weight has been lifted from my back. And now that I think back, I suppose I do feel that way whenever I get the time to work on FWP.

Helping other freelancers (or at least convincing myself that the little things I do on here are actually helpful) may very well be one of the few ways I can experience true happiness anymore.

Of course my family will forever be kindling on the flames of joy. They have always been able to put a smile on my face even when I was in one of those particularly black, anger-fueled moods.

This impromptu emotional investigation has begun casting a light on a few things.

It's now clear that the feeling I get from helping a fellow freelance writer make money online is a hearty bowl of chicken soup for my soul. Even if I hear nothing about individual successes, simply writing a post, finding a new freelance writing site or creating some kind of useful tool is capable of lifting my spirits.

Maybe that's a naive or blind way to look at it. Maybe I am being immodest to think that FWP has that kind of power over anything.  At this point in my life, I'll take naive, blind and immodest over angry, unfriendly and cold any day of the week.

I guess the ultimate lesson I need to learn from this is that there comes a point in time when one must let go of their past in order to embrace the future.

If a Freelancer Makes Money Writing Online but Nobody is Around to Hear It, Does She Get to Keep the Money

Well, I started this post because I had something exciting to tell you all. I really didn't mean to start some kind of introspective analysis of my screwed up emotions. It got a bit out of hand, but that's the FWP Blog for you. Increase my earnings to $50 in 2015 and I will try to avoid writing posts with the word emotion in them at all.

Anyways, let's move on to what may very well be the root of all this giddy joyfulness and corny grins. After all that preamble, after what looks like well over 500 words of build-up describing my inability to experience normal emotions, I have a sinking feeling that the updates can never live up to the hype. You may get to the meat and taters of this post only to leave disappointed and annoyed by a lackluster climax. That's a risk you probably ought to take considering you already made it this far.

So what is the cause of such unbearable elation anyways? Well, the main reason for my crushingly high spirited mood is something pretty damn cool. I don't even have to convince myself of that. It is cool, plain and simple.

The FWP Blog will publish later on today its very first guest post! And it's a damn good one too! My newest freelance writing friend Jelly Shah created a fine piece of content for you all, and I honestly believe it will be an undeniably evergreen post from which you will gain a plethora of insights.

I should have Jelly's post up in the next few hours, so be sure to check it out and comment on it. Let's make Jelly feel at home. Also, you might want to say his name, Jelly Shah, a time or two. I bet a dollar to a dime you'll be unable to hide the spontaneous grin that creases your face. Jelly Shah might be the best name ever uttered on this planet called Earth.

In all seriousness, Jelly instantly became one of my ten most favorite people when I opened his initial contact email about a week ago. His gracious and respectful attitude, his obvious hunger to succeed and his open and down-to-Earth personality were immediately clear. Those positive traits are just one single layer of ice cream scooped over top of the delicious slice of pie that is Jelly Shah.

Now that you all have been introduced to the newest guest author for FWP, we can smoothly segue into my next announcement.

Guest Posting on the Freelance Writing for Profit Blog

A few hours ago I put the final touches on the newest part of FWP. In the main navigation bar you will find a link. "Submit a Guest Post" is the links name, and it says it all. Following that new menu choice will lead you to yet another form page (I'm seriously addicted to making forms right now) that has a number of neat options. Essentially, it's like any other article submission form you've probably seen a hundred times. However, in the case of the FWP Blog, you're not required to pay anything, you're not asked for seemingly endless writing samples or personal details and there's not one field or text box demanding to know about the nation you call home. The FWP Blog bases posting decisions on ABILITY not NATIONALITY. If you can write English as well as my friend Jelly, then you're in here like swimwear and I can't wait to read what you come up with.

With that said, there's currently a limited number of guest posts available. Right now I think it's at 23. Once that amount runs out, the form will be disabled until we need more posts down the road. So, if you would like to promote some links, establish your niche expertise and build a bigger audience, please feel free to submit an article for review. In most cases, I will get to them fairly quickly and should have them posted within a few days of receipt. Along with normal publishing, I will share your posts across my social networks. You'll find all the guidelines and required information on the form, but if you do have any questions feel free to contact me.

The next installment of A Day in the Life should be posted tomorrow but don't hold me to that. I have it mostly written but I still need to edit and tidy it up a bit. My goal is to try to get back on track with the Thursday releases of the series. If I can catch up with my paying work, then I should be able to meet that deadline.

Well, that's it. Yea, you just read a bunch of words about an emotionally unstable dude and very few words about actual site updates. Still, those updates are damn good, I don't care what anyone else says. Jelly is our new FWP contributor, but he's not the last.
